Well the best laid plans and all that guff..... I've decided to solve my comments problem the only way I know how. Start a new blog. LOL. This one does have comments enabled (well the other one did too, it just refused to acknowledge that fact).
Bear with me as it may take me a couple of days to get my blogroll listed here. *sigh* Yes, I'm SUPPOSED to be working on my nanowrimo novel!!!!! Or cleaning the house...... or something!!!!
Why start yet another blog? Well, I enjoy blogging and I enjoy reading people's blogs. Even more so, I enjoy people reading what I have to say. I know, it's an ego thing. I'll admit it. LOL. I've now been blogging at my original blog for twelve months and in that time I've learnt a lot and met a lot of wonderful people.
One of the struggles I've faced in my blogging journey is how to get noticed in such a HUGE blogworld. I really do feel like a teeny tiny fish swimming in a very big blogpond. So one of the things I'd like to do with this particular blog is write reviews on blogs. Not from an "expert" point of view but simply from a "reader" point of view.
If you would like me to write a review for your blog, please leave a comment. I'll be starting with those first and once I'm through those, I will begin doing "unauthorised" reviews as well. :-) My intention is to be honest in my opinions of each blog that I review without being brutal. :-)
What I can't believe is that this is my 3rd blog!!!! I was NEVER going to be one of those people with multiple blogs. LOL. Obviously I have a LOT more to say than I ever thought. However, because this is my 3rd blog and because blog reviews take some time to do properly, I don't intend to be posting to this blog every day. For that reason, I would recommend those of you interested in reading this blog on a regular basis add it to a reader of some kind. That way you'll know when a post has been written and save yourself frustration over having to visit multiple times before you actually come across something new to read. :-)
If you don't already have a reader, I like to use bloglines. You can subscribe to this blog in bloglines by clicking this button:
My apologies to those who have been caught up in the difficulties I've experienced in the past few days. Hopefully we'll be all set now. LOL. For those who were kind enough to respond to my poll on the other blog, do you mind terribly responding again here? Thank you.

What do I think about bloggers making money?
Well if you can get paid for the time you spend on blogging that's nice..it all depends on how others value the blog on how much you can make I guess.
I don't blog for money and don't have any desire to do that, but what other people do on their blogs is up to them.
I think the money making aspect to blogging does make things a little complicated...I guess the internet is becoming less 'free' if it ever was free in the first place and the potential of it can be a little limited by money making aspects of the internet: scammers, pagerank, linkylove and variations of that set into place to avoid things going wrong. If you go in naive you might end up with a little more than you bargained for by the time you have worked it all out.
The thing I have problems most with is that the commercialism value is attributed to your blog whether you want it or not. If you're not making money out of your blog it doesn't mean that someone else won't.
Does any of that make sense?
Look, you got the comments to work! Yeah for you!
SBW
SBW - no I didn't. Had to set up a whole new blog to get comments. LOL. Well, I guess I found a way to make them work - just wasn't the way I'd hoped. :)
Blueblue - thank you for your comments on making money blogging. I think my hesitance is that I never set out to make money. I started blogging for fun and if it becomes more of a commercial enterprise, does that make it less fun? And will I lose my credibility if people wonder if I'm saying things for the money aspect (even though I am a very honest person who wouldn't do that - not everyone will know that). Or is it a way of making a few dollars doing something I LOVE? I'm still fence sitting on this issue.
My thoughts on blogs with ads is that in order for me to read them, they have to have very good content. I'd read a blog with a blog content that I'd rate say 3/5 that didn't have ads before one with content I'd rate 4/5 with ads... but I'd read a 5/5 blog regardless... I think blogs are like the people they represent, it's good to spend time with those who are on the same wavelength, who are inspiring and uplifting.
I personally don't blog for money, but nor do I seek to promote my blog. As weird and contrary to the whole idea of blogging as it seems, my blog is kind of personal. I don't have it listed in the Blogger directory, I limit where I publish the addy and I don't tell people IRL about it. I value the people who do visit my blog and love the comments they love (otherwise I may as well keep a private journal) but I like that my blog seems to be only visited by people who I know somewhat, a kind of community feel. Not sure if this makes sense even to me!
Another thing about blogging for money is that without consciously writing content for commercial gain, it may change the 'tone' of the blog somewhat. Some more commercial-type blogs seem quite polished, with less personal content.
Hi Emma,
Thanks for dropping by and for your thoughts.
It's an interesting debate and one I'm not sure I'll *ever* fully make up my mind on. One of the reasons I decided to ad google adsense to my other blog was because I actually found some interesting and helfpul websites via ads on other blogs.
I guess I would see them as a "sideline" to my blogging rather than the main purpose if that makes sense. Not sure if it would change the tone of my blogging or not. If it ever does, make sure you tell me. OK? :-)
Hi Jodi,
I thought I would clarify - I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting some financial reward for the time and effort some people put into blogging per se. With regards to style changing, I think that is something the blogger herself would have to make the call on - a blogger's style / tone will naturally change with life / experience etc and only blogger herself could determine whether that change has a commercial component, conscious or not. I hope you understand what I mean? Oh and feel free to review my blog if you like. :)
